DTC Dogtown Coffee
Santa Monica, California

“Early in the project, we brought Bisciotti Design + Build to review our then current design, which Flavio Bisciotti has thought was inadequate and require improvement. We then chose to hire Bisciotti Design + Build and the were greatly rewarded as your talented vision has transformed many aspects of our old plan. In many regards, your stamp on our place has been pivotal in the creation of our culture and we’re greatly appreciative.”

The far North boundary of Santa Monica’s busy Main Street is called Dogtown, a historical area which is part of the early roots of surf and skate scene of this city. The location, formerly Zephyr Surf shop, was home to the legendary Z-Boys. This was the client’s first venture into retail. Today it is a thriving café.

We came up with the vision for this project. The conceptual design was generated in the first meeting, followed up with shop drawings. The concept was to use recycled and reclaimed materials and metalwork to design a functional bar area that would serve all the necessities of the business. This includes design and production of glass shelving and displays, stainless steel tops, coffee tables, chairs and benches, as well as, a custom rack created from a surfboard.
